A Fun Surprise for Players
Pokémon GO’s 2025 April Fools' event, “What’s That Poké Ball”, has begun, introducing playful encounters where fake Poké Balls on the overworld map turn out to be disguised Pokémon. This event makes fake items appear on the overworld map, which are actually secret Pokémon waiting to trick players into catching them.
In the original Pokémon video games, items on the overworld were often depicted as Poké Balls due to the Game Boy’s limited memory. This led to the creation of Pokémon that mimic Poké Balls, starting with Electrode and Voltorb, designed to deceive unwary trainers.

Fake Poké Balls Everywhere
The 2025 April Fools' event for Pokémon GO revolves around deceptive Pokémon that hide as Poké Balls.
