How to Quickly Evaluate an App's Market Performance and Competitiveness With "App Profile" Feature

FoxData's free feature, "App Profile," provides comprehensive basic information and performance metrics for apps.

The data sections include App Info, In-App Events, In-App Purchases, Recent Ratings, Recent Reviews, Category Ranking, and more, which I will introduce in the following blog. This feature offers a better window into app performance insights.

How to Use App Profile

To view key App Profile metrics and insights:

1. Go to Dashboard > Search.
2. Enter the app or game you'd like to analyze.
3. To target your analysis, click "Track app" to reach the "App" overview page.
4. To click "App Profile" and view the information of your tracking app.

• Hovering the mouse over a tag allows you to see the tag description and the top 3 apps under that tag. You can jump Top Charts page by clicking on the tag.

App Info is the first section you see when you open this feature, and it helps you quickly identify the app and evaluate its visual design and ASO (App Store Optimization).

It provides app screenshots and descriptions, with translation support in 6 languages to help you better understand app descriptions in other markets.

🗒️ Note: If you choose the App Store, the screenshots will include both iPhone and iPad versions.

In-App Events

Simply click In-App Events next to App Info to easily switch to the page where you can view the current and historical descriptions and information of the app's in-app events.
This provides developers and market researchers with rich data support, helping them better understand user behavior, optimize products, and refine marketing strategies to enhance the app's overall performance.

🗒️ Note: If the app you are tracking has not created any in-app events, there will be no related options or information next to App Info. Additionally, apps on Google Play do also not have in-app events.

Recent Ratings and Recent Reviews

Scroll down the page to view the basic information on the app's recent ratings and reviews.

App Ratings reflect user satisfaction and popularity.

App Reviews provide real user experiences and feedback, helping developers identify the app's strengths and weaknesses.

Category Ranking

Category Ranking shows the Overall Trend, Apps Trend, and Category Trend of the app you are tracking.

This feature enables app marketers and developers to better understand the latest trends in the application market.

• You can click "+ Add Custom Event" to mark the cause of a ranking increase, so you can check it later, or the team can see the promotion effect and strategy implementation effectiveness at a glance.
• You can also click "Events Node" to select "Text Metadata", "Classification Metadata", "App Behavior", and "Custom Event" to associate with "Category Ranking", making it easier to observe the reasons for ranking changes.

Publisher's Other Apps

At the bottom of this page, you will find Publisher's Other Apps. This section displays basic data of the apps you are tracking, such as Apps/Games Rank, Latest Update, Earliest Release and Status.

The data helps you determine whether it's necessary to continue tracking and monitoring this publisher's other apps. If needed, you can click on the app icons to easily start tracking them in FoxData.

Key Metrics & Insights on the Right

Global Downloads & Revenue

You can see this panel at the top right. This panel displays the app's estimated downloads and estimated revenue, helping you assess the market demand, user acceptance, and profitability of the app you are tracking.

Recent Version

Version information of the selected app can be viewed here, including Latest Version, Update Time and Update Log.

"About" Section

As you continue to scroll down, you will encounter the "About" section. This section serves as a window to help you understand more detailed basic information about the app you are tracking, including Developer, Supplier, Date of Issue, Last Updated, and other basic information.

In-App Purchases

FoxData also provides information on In-App Purchases to help you understand the specific items available for purchase within the app and their prices, identifying the main sources of revenue.

You Might Also Like/Similar apps/games

Located at the bottom right corner of the page, this section recommends similar apps to help you monitor multiple competitors. 

This feature allows you to expand your monitoring to include apps and games that are similar to the one you are currently tracking.

A: FoxData supports switching countries to view app info for different regions. Simply click the flag filter at the top of the page to switch between information and languages for the app in different country markets.

 

Q: Why can't I find In-App Events？

A: If the app you are tracking has not created any in-app events, there will be no related options or information next to App Info. Additionally, apps on Google Play do also not have in-app events.

Q: Why can't I find "You Might Also Like"？

A: In the App Store, this section is displayed as "You Might Also Like", while in Google Play, it is displayed as "Similar Apps/Games". If you are tracking an app in the Google Play, you will find "Similar Apps/Games" instead of "You Might Also Like".

Q: Can I use "App Profile" to monitor my competitors?

A: Yes, you can. You can search your competitors directly and then track them. Or you can Click the apps  in "You Might Also Like" directly, as they are your similar apps.
