As we step into 2025, PS Plus remains a cornerstone for PlayStation users, offering everything from monthly games to exclusive discounts and access to online play. While 2024 saw Sony maintain the familiar structure across its Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers, the question on every subscriber’s mind is: What’s next for PS Plus?
Here’s a glimpse into what PS Plus subscribers can expect in 2025:
Sony has officially revealed the PS Plus Monthly Games for January 2025, which will be available to subscribers starting January 7, 2025. The lineup may not be the most exciting for everyone, but it does offer a variety of genres to explore:
Rocksteady Studios’ action-adventure, third-person shooter has had mixed reviews, but it’s still worth a try for PlayStation gamers curious about the latest from the creators of the Batman: Arkham series. Whether you’re playing solo or with friends, this title brings an exciting mix of combat and adventure. Although it has been discounted on PC, it’s available for free this month to PS Plus members.
Racing enthusiasts can get their fix with this remastered version of the 2010 classic. With updated visuals, cross-platform multiplayer, and all the DLC, it brings a refreshed experience for fans of fast cars and high-stakes chases.
Arguably the best of the bunch, this expanded version of the 2013 indie hit The Stanley Parable offers new content, additional choices, and plenty of secrets. If you’ve never played it, or want to revisit the quirky world of The Stanley Parable, this is a must-download.
All three games will be available to PlayStation Plus members until February 3, 2025.

For many, PS Plus Essential remains the baseline service, offering three free games each month and essential online access. The simplicity and reliability of this tier have been key selling points, and we can likely expect that to continue into 2025. There’s no indication that the three-game monthly offering will change, so if you’re subscribed to Essential, you can count on the same solid, no-frills package to carry you through the year.
Since its debut, PS Plus Extra has been the main attraction for those looking for more than just the basics. With a sizable catalog of games available for download and regular additions, this tier has been positioned as the middle ground between Essential and Premium, offering more for a higher price. Looking ahead to 2025, Sony will likely continue to focus on expanding and refining this catalog.
One thing to watch, however, is the potential for some change in the way games are added. With the sheer volume of titles already available, it’ll be interesting to see how Sony keeps the momentum going. Will they focus on adding even more new releases, or will they shift toward enhancing the overall experience with features like better recommendations or streamlined game discovery?
PS Plus Premium, which includes access to classic games, game trials, and additional streaming options, has been a harder sell for some due to its higher price. While it appeals to nostalgia with its catalog of older titles, it doesn’t get the same level of attention as Essential or Extra. But could 2025 be the year Sony starts to rework Premium?
At the moment, it’s hard to predict what, if anything, will change. Some have speculated that Sony may add new perks, possibly expanding the Premium catalog with more modern titles or more exclusive content. But whether that will come to fruition remains to be seen. For now, if you’re on the Premium tier, don’t expect any major shifts unless Sony decides to push it more aggressively in the year ahead.
In 2025, we can expect smaller updates rather than big changes. More people are subscribing to PS Plus Extra and Premium, which could lead Sony to add new perks or expand to other platforms. With the growth of PC gaming, there’s also potential for more focus on PC players, especially since PS Plus Premium already offers game streaming on PC.
