Yes, you could use StarTeam. But you might also want to look at IBM?s Tivoli or CA?s Unicenter TNG. These products are designed to keep track of configurations used on PC?s and Mainframes or any computer in terms of what revision of the OS or application packages was installed and when it was installed as well as hardware or other configuration changes made. This I would call Hardware Configuration Management as opposed to what StarTeam is; a Software Configuration Management system.
