: Hi,
: My source code repository is getting too large( 300MB). I was wondering if my performance will improve if i were to split the repository. I would have to checkouts the latest revisions from 1 release, create a new server and then check these files back in. By doing this, i will ofcourse lose the history on the files and also my CRs for a particular release.
: I am currently on Access with the intention of migrating to SQL in the near future.
: Any suggestions on how to split the repository??
: Thanks
: Madhavi.
Hi Madhavi,
I would not split the repository. We have customers with several gigabytes and they do not have a performance problem. Your best bet is to migrate to SQL Server 7 or later as soon as possible as you will see a performance gain of at least 2.4 times according to tests that I have run. Make sure you run your SQL Server on a different server, or on the same, dual-processor machine.
Rgds,
Tommie
